FAQs
What is individual therapy?
Individual psychotherapy involves one-on-one sessions between a therapist and a client. Therapy can be effective for children, adolescents, and adults who may be struggling with a range of mental health issues or personal challenges. Individual’s who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems or difficulty coping with life transitions will benefit from therapy. Therapy will help individuals gain insight into their thoughts and feelings and elicit change in behaviors in order to improve their quality of life.
How do you work with clients?
We will use various techniques and approaches tailored to your specific needs and goals. This approach is what many therapists refer to as “integrative therapy" or an “integrative approach”. I have experience with a range of modalities including psychodynamic, relational, CBT, and DBT that will guide our work. We will work collaboratively to identify your strengths, challenges, patterns in behavior, and goals and help you build and maintain a fulfilling life.
How long will I need to go to therapy?
Length of treatment can vary significantly between individuals. Generally, research shows that most clients begin experiencing a decrease in symptoms after three months of consistent treatment. Many will continue seeking treatment beyond this however in order to meet their personal goals and well-being. I ask clients to meet for an initial three sessions to better determine if we are a good fit for one another.
Who do you serve?
I work with adults navigating pregnancy, the postpartum period, and the emotional transitions that come with becoming a parent. I also work with high-achieving and perfectionistic individuals who appear to be managing well on the outside, but feel anxious, burned out, or emotionally stretched thin on the inside.
