About Me
I'm Dr. Vanessa Vitiello — a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in perinatal mental health. I work with women navigating the emotional challenges of pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood, including postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, birth trauma, pregnancy loss, perfectionism, and the identity shift that comes with becoming a parent.
I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD) and completed my postdoctoral fellowship at The Motherhood Center of New York, one of the leading perinatal mental health treatment centers in the country. That training gave me a depth of expertise in maternal mood disorders that shapes everything I do.
I take a warm, integrative approach to therapy. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic techniques, attachment-based work, and mindfulness practices. I'm also a certified yoga teacher (RYT-200), which means I bring breathwork and gentle body-based techniques into our sessions as a complement to evidence-based therapy.
My clients are often high-achieving, capable women who appear to be managing well on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stretched thin, or disconnected on the inside. They're the moms who hold everything together for everyone else and have no idea how to ask for help for themselves. If that sounds like you, I'd love to talk.
I'm licensed in New Jersey and New York and am a PSYPACT provider, which means I can see clients in 39+ states via secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth. I serve moms throughout New Jersey — including Westfield, Summit, Short Hills, Millburn, Montclair, South Orange, Maplewood, and surrounding communities.
I'm also a mom. That doesn't make me a better therapist, but it does mean I understand the gap between what motherhood is supposed to feel like and what it actually feels like. I bring that understanding into every session, alongside years of clinical training.
