• Therapy for overwhelmed moms — virtual sessions across New Jersey

You're a great mom. You're also not okay. Both of those things can be true.

Therapy for moms who are exhausted, overwhelmed, and wondering where the person they were went.

You don't think you need a therapist. Nothing is technically "wrong." Your child is healthy and thriving. Your partner is trying. You have a roof over your head and food in the fridge. So why do you feel like this?

Maybe it's the resentment that creeps in when your partner sits down after dinner and you're still mentally running through tomorrow's to-do list. Maybe it's the guilt you feel for not savoring every moment when everyone keeps telling you "it goes so fast." Maybe it's the unsettling feeling that the person you were before the kids is gone, and you don't know who replaced her.

You're not broken. You're not ungrateful. You're a woman going through one of the most profound identity shifts a human being can experience, in a culture that expects you to make it look effortless.

You don't need a diagnosis to deserve support. You just need someone who gets it.

I'm Dr. Vanessa Vitiello — a doctoral-level clinical psychologist specializing in perinatal mental health. I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at The Motherhood Center of New York, one of the leading perinatal mental health treatment centers in the country.

I'm also a mom. I know what it's like to sit in the love and the overwhelm, the joy and the rage, the deep desire to do this well and the fear that you're not. I bring that understanding into every session, alongside years of specialized clinical training.

I provide virtual therapy to clients throughout New Jersey and across 39+ states via PSYPACT.

This might sound familiar.

You love your kids but you don't love being a mom right now

You carry the mental load for your entire household and no one seems to notice

You compare yourself to other moms who seem to have it together and wonder what's wrong with you

You feel lonely even though you’re not alone

You're irritable, short-tempered, and touched out by the end of every day

You're functioning, but you're not thriving

What therapy looks like when you don't have a "big" problem.

You don't need a crisis to come to therapy. Some of my favorite work is with moms who are doing fine on the outside but feel like they're slowly disappearing on the inside. Women who are high-achieving, competent, and capable, but also exhausted, resentful, and running on fumes.

In our sessions, we create a space that's entirely yours. Not about the baby. Not about your partner. Not about what you should be doing or feeling. Just about you, what you're actually experiencing, what you need, and how to start building a version of motherhood that doesn't require you to abandon yourself.

We'll work on things like understanding why perfectionism that served you before is now working against you, setting boundaries without guilt, navigating the identity shift from who you were to who you're becoming, communicating your needs to your partner without it turning into a fight, and finding your way back to the parts of yourself that motherhood buried but didn't erase.

All sessions are virtual, secure, and HIPAA-compliant video from wherever you are. Your couch, your bedroom, the car during nap time. You'll receive a secure link by email, and all you need is a phone or computer with a camera. If your baby wakes up mid-session, we pause, you do what you need to do, and we pick up where we left off. It happens all the time.

Some things to know before we start.

$300 per session (45 minutes). I am out-of-network with all insurance plans. I provide monthly superbills for reimbursement — most clients with OON benefits receive 50–80% back. HSA and FSA accepted. Sliding scale available on a limited basis.

I see clients throughout New Jersey — including Westfield, Summit, Short Hills, Millburn, Montclair, South Orange, Maplewood, and surrounding communities. I'm also a PSYPACT provider, which means I can work with moms in 39+ states.

You deserve more than just getting through the day.

If any of this resonated, I'd love to talk. I offer a free 15-minute consultation. No pressure, no commitment. Just a conversation about what you're experiencing and whether working together could help.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can talk about what’s happening and whether working together is the right fit.
