You don't have to feel this way forever.

Specialized therapy for postpartum depression — from a psychologist who understands what you're going through.

You thought you'd feel different by now. Everyone told you this was supposed to be the happiest time of your life, but instead you feel empty, exhausted, and disconnected — from your baby, from your partner, from yourself. You're going through the motions, but nothing feels right. And the guilt of not feeling the way you think you should? That might be the heaviest part.

If this sounds familiar, you may be experiencing postpartum depression. It affects up to 1 in 5 mothers, and it is not your fault. It doesn't mean you're a bad mom. It means your brain and body are struggling with one of the most significant transitions a person can go through — and you deserve support.

What postpartum depression can look like

Persistent sadness, tearfulness, or emotional numbness

Difficulty bonding with your baby

Withdrawing from your partner, family, or friends

Feeling like you're going through the motions but nothing is landing

Intrusive thoughts that frighten you

A sense of hopelessness or wondering if things will ever feel normal again

These symptoms can appear anytime in the first year after birth. And they're different from the "baby blues," which typically resolve within two weeks. If what you're feeling has lasted longer or is getting worse, therapy can help.

How I work with postpartum depression

Perinatal therapy for pregnancy and postpartum — Dr. Vitiello NJ

I take a warm, evidence-based approach that meets you exactly where you are. We'll work together to understand what you're experiencing, build practical tools for managing your symptoms, and create space for you to process the complicated emotions of early motherhood without judgment.

My approach integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to address the thought patterns that keep you stuck, psychodynamic techniques to understand the deeper roots of what you're feeling, and attachment-based work to support the bond between you and your baby. I also draw on my training as a certified yoga teacher, weaving breathwork and gentle body-based practices into our sessions when it feels right.

I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at The Motherhood Center of New York, where I received advanced training specifically in treating postpartum mood disorders.

You don't have to do this alone.

I offer virtual therapy to moms throughout New Jersey — including Westfield, Summit, Short Hills, and Millburn — as well as clients in 39+ states through PSYPACT.

Your first step is a free 15-minute consultation where we can talk about what you're going through and whether working together feels right.
