What’s Next: Building Community and Support for Moms This Fall
This summer, one of the things I’ve been most grateful for is the opportunity to bring moms together.
When I started Mommy & Me Mindful Moments, I knew I wanted to create a space where new moms could get out of the house, move their bodies, practice mindfulness, and connect with one another. What I’ve loved most, though, are the conversations and connections that have happened along the way.
We’ve talked about confidence in motherhood, feeling isolated, navigating anxiety and overwhelm, learning to trust ourselves, and so many of the experiences that come with becoming a mom but aren’t always talked about openly.
As a psychologist specializing in perinatal and maternal mental health, I believe strongly in the value of therapy. But I also believe that supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood can happen in many different ways.
Sometimes we need a space to process what we’re experiencing. Sometimes we need information or practical tools. Sometimes we need to move our bodies and regulate our nervous systems. And sometimes we simply need to be around other moms and remember that we’re not doing this alone.
That idea has really shaped what is coming next.
One More Mommy & Me Mindful Moments
Before we officially say goodbye to summer, we have one more Mommy & Me Mindful Moments gathering on August 19.
This final workshop will be a little extra special. In addition to the mindfulness, movement, and connection we’ve incorporated throughout the summer, we’ll be joined by a special guest for an interactive music experience for moms and babies.
If you’ve been wanting to join us but haven’t made it to one yet, this is your last opportunity for the summer. And if you’ve joined us before, I’d love to have you back as we wrap up what has been such a meaningful series.
Mommy & Me Core & Calm
As we move into fall, I’m excited to continue creating opportunities for moms to connect through movement.
Mommy & Me Core & Calm will combine strengthening and restorative practices designed specifically with postpartum mothers in mind. With the help of a friend and pelvic floor therapist we will work on re-building core strength while also incorporating breathwork, mindfulness, and meditation.
Babies are part of the experience, and the goal is not a perfect workout or a perfectly content baby. It’s an opportunity to move, reconnect with your body, spend time with your baby, and be around other moms navigating a similar season.
Preparing for Birth Means Preparing for Postpartum, Too
I’m also looking forward to an upcoming Birth Prep workshop this fall.
This workshop in collaboration with a pelvic floor physical therapist will give pregnant women a chance to prepare for both the physical and emotional experiences of labor and delivery.
Pregnancy can be an important time to think about what support might look like postpartum, how you and your partner will communicate about your needs, what changes you might anticipate, and how you can care for your mental health during such a significant life transition.
This workshop will create space for those conversations and help expecting parents feel more prepared not only for birth, but for what comes next.
The Fourth Trimester Therapy Group
For moms looking for more ongoing support, I’m also preparing to begin my Fourth Trimester Therapy Group this fall.
The fourth trimester can be an incredibly vulnerable time. You’re recovering physically, adjusting emotionally, caring for a new baby, navigating changes in relationships and routines, and often trying to figure out who you are within all of it.
This therapist-led postpartum group is designed to create a supportive space for moms within the first year postpartum to talk honestly about those experiences.
We’ll explore topics including postpartum anxiety and overwhelm, identity changes, relationships, self-compassion, and finding confidence as a mother. Sessions will combine psychoeducation, interpersonal processing, and practical coping tools, but just as importantly, the group offers something I think many new moms are missing: consistent connection with other women who understand this season of life. Creating More Ways for Moms to Feel Supported
One of the things this summer has reinforced for me is that there isn’t one “right” way to support maternal mental health.
Therapy matters. So does movement. So does education. So does mindfulness. And so does having another mom look at you and say, “Me too.”
As we transition into fall, my hope is to continue creating different kinds of spaces where women can find the support that makes sense for them.
Whether you’re pregnant and thinking ahead to postpartum, newly navigating motherhood, looking for community, or realizing you might benefit from more individualized mental health support, I hope there is a place for you here.
I’m excited for what’s ahead and even more excited to continue building this community together.
